Robert’s no stranger to planes: for 40 years, he’s restored old aircraft at his local museum and is building a replica Spitfire fuselage in his garage. He had always wanted to fly, but it was only when nearing retirement that he had the time and money to learn. Unfortunately, he found that the older you are, the longer it takes; but he’s now qualified to fly 2,000 feet over Scotland’s fantastic landscape -making sure to avoid airliners and military aircraft! Like most Brits, he’s fascinated by the weather, but flying makes him more keenly aware of wind speed and direction -which we think is a very useful skill for launching paper airplanes too. His next goal is to fly to Orkney to see the town of his birth from the air.
